About Emergency Dental Care
Certain dental issues (like a toothache, cracked tooth, jaw pain, and more) require fast relief. When these dental emergencies occur, patients are encouraged to call their DentalWorks dentists for help and guidance. Our dentists will answer all questions about the patient’s dental situation and talk about short-term relief and long-term treatment options. During regular office hours, the patient is usually able to come in to the office for treatment, but for problems that occur after office hours, the dentist will be contacted and given the patient’s information to help the patient decide the best course of action. Patients can also schedule appointments 24/7 online for problems that don’t need immediate relief.
What to Expect
For after-hours emergency dental care, the patient should call our office and leave a message with our answering service. The dentist (or another qualified dentist, if the dentist is not reachable) is called and the patient’s number and ?information is given to the dentist to contact the patient. Most emergencies can be taken care of with a prescription called in to a pharmacy and the patient is scheduled to visit the office first thing in the morning. If the patient has a true emergency of bleeding, intense pain, and/or serious infection, the dentist will typically refer the patient immediately to an ER if it is after hours.
The dentist will usually schedule a follow-up appointment to check on the patient’s progress or finish the needed procedures. The dentist will give each patient specific care instructions that should be followed exactly for maximum relief. Patients should continue to schedule annual dental exams and bi-annual dental cleanings to catch and prevent any future problems that may require emergency care.
Dental emergencies should not be ignored over money concerns, DentalWorks will work with the patient’s insurance to get their maximum coverage. DentalWorks accepts a variety of payment methods and offers financing options to make care and relief affordable.
